Laura Mackenrot - CERTIFIED EXECUTIVE COACH

My name is Laura Mackenrot , and I’m a retirement and financial planning specialist dedicated to serving people with disabilities and their families across British Columbia and Canada.

As a blind woman living with arthritis since birth, I understand firsthand the unique financial and personal challenges that come with living with a disability. My lived experience informs every aspect of my work—from advocating for more inclusive systems to helping families create practical, sustainable plans for the future.

I hold a degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and studied Executive Coaching at Royal Roads University. I left home at 20 to live and study on campus, determined to chart my own course. Since then, I’ve spent over two decades supporting the disability community, both professionally and personally.

For over 15 years, I’ve worked with the PLAN Institute, helping families navigate the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) and long-term financial planning. I’ve also served as the national speaker on the RDSP, reaching audiences coast to coast to demystify the program and empower people to take control of their financial futures.

My advocacy experience includes serving as co-chair of the Persons with Disabilities Advisory Committee for the City of Vancouver and am currently serving on the Destination BC Accessibility and Inclusion Committee, where I contribute to shaping more inclusive travel experiences across our province.

As a young disabled traveler, I journeyed solo across Europe—an experience that deepened my independence and shaped my belief that with the right support systems, people with disabilities can lead full, adventurous, and financially secure lives.

Today, I offer personalized retirement and financial planning services with a focus on dignity, autonomy, and long-term security for people with disabilities and their families. I look forward to helping you plan for a future where you and your loved ones can thrive.
